Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream butter and 1.5 cups sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Mix dry ingredients into wet until combined.
  • Mix 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll dough into balls, then roll in cinnamon sugar.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on pan for 5 minutes.

Notes

Do not overbake; remove when centers look slightly soft.
