Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups Cake flour, sifted
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 large Eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1.25 cups Whole milk, room temperature
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 cup Butter (for frosting)
  • 3 tbsp Heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp Gel food coloring (Pink/Purple)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  • In a large mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (5 minutes).
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • Add flour mixture alternating with milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Beat butter for frosting until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cream until fluffy. Tint with gel color.
  • Apply a crumb coat to the cooled cake, chill for 20 minutes, then apply the final layer and decorations.
