When selecting your ingredients, opt for high-quality cream cheese that’s softened to room temperature, ensuring it’s easier to mix with the sugar and vanilla extract. Fresh blueberries are a must, as they provide the perfect burst of sweetness and freshness. For more recipe ideas and ingredient tips, visit our recipe page.

Consider using a combination of granulated and brown sugar to balance the sweetness and depth of flavor in the cream cheese mixture. If you’re looking for a substitute for blueberries, you can try using raspberries or strawberries, but keep in mind that the flavor and texture will be slightly different.

Ingredients

1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup fresh blueberries

4 large croissants, cut into 1-inch pieces

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Directions

1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture until smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

2
Gently fold in the fresh blueberries into the cream cheese mixture until they’re evenly distributed. Be careful not to crush the blueberries.

3
In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Add the croissant pieces to the bowl and toss until they’re evenly coated with the butter mixture.

4
In a 9×13-inch baking dish, create a layer of croissant pieces. You can trim them to fit the dish if needed. Top the croissants with half of the cream cheese mixture, followed by half of the blueberries.

5
Repeat the layers, starting with the remaining croissant pieces, then the remaining cream cheese mixture, and finally the remaining blueberries. Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Storage & Reheating

Allow the casserole to cool completely before refrigerating or freezing. To reheat, simply cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 10-15 minutes, or until warmed through. You can also reheat individual servings in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.
